Leaning against this oak tree
Stunned and filtering through
the twin tower tragedy
I feel like I had cataract surgery
Slowly through the years, I didn't notice
my perception became blurry
my depth of vision gone
Stumbling, not seeing my journey
This laser tragedy has cut deep
leaving me with anguish
a gaping wound
Inserting a new lens brought
a changed awareness
not forgetting, but releasing
sight for forgiveness
As I look around I view evidence
of many Cataract Americans
who have a new Lens of Love.
